THE NOWAK FAMILY WEBPAGE

WELCOME!!

Welcome to the Nowak family webpage.  Here you will find the activities of Jim and Karen Nowak and family.  We hope to add information about the other Nowak relatives and a little about them as well.  Currently we reside in Jacksonville, Florida with our two daughters, Kassi and Kyra.  Jacksonville has a lot to offer to people these days.  There is always plenty of things to do around here.  The city is ever growing and it is amazing of all the new developments that have taken place in just the last year.  We chose to live here after we both got married as it seemed a great place to start a family.   Our house is located about half way between the beaches and the city of Jacksonville.  This works well, for we are not so close to the beach where we would have to worry about flooding from hurricanes and we are not too close to the city and all its traffic.

HOW WE MET:

How we first got together was actually pretty interesting.  I (Jim) was serving onboard the USS John F. Kennedy in the Navy which was home-ported at Mayport Naval Station here in Florida at the time.  I frequented a nightclub named the Crazy Horse Saloon.  After just hanging out there for weeks at a time just drinking beer and watching everyone dance, I finally got up the nerve to try and see if I could dance...or if I had two left feet.  It wasn't long before I was out there doing all the country line dances with the best of them.  I dragged my best friend Brett there a few times and got him hooked on it all as well.  We were "admiring the scenery" (if you know what I mean) and both new that if we were going to have a chance with the women there, we had better learn to do the couples dances as well.  We both started taking the classes that were held there and each got paired up with various women each time.  We were far from pros at it but we made do with what we knew.  One night I spotted a woman sitting by herself and asked her to dance.  We started talking as we danced and came to find out that we both were in the Navy and even served on the same ship!  With a crew of 5,000+ onboard, it's not too hard to miss people onboard.  Well, it still took another two weeks after we met to finally run into each other onboard the Kennedy.  We started bumping into one another more and more after that.  Things just sort of went its course from there.
